nadhar karae thaa simariaa jaae
If the Lord bestows His Glance of Grace, then one remembers Him in meditation
aathamaa dhravai rehai liv laae
The soul is softened, and he remains absorbed in the Lord's Love
aathamaa paraathamaa eaeko karai
His soul and the Supreme Soul become one
anthar kee dhubidhhaa anthar marai
The duality of the inner mind is overcome
gur parasaadhee paaeiaa jaae
By Guru's Grace, God is found
har sio chith laagai fir kaal n khaae
One's consciousness is attached to the Lord, and so Death does not devour him
sach simariai hovai paragaas
Remembering the True Lord in meditation, one is enlightened
thaa thae bikhiaa mehi rehai oudhaas
Then, in the midst of Maya, he remains detached
sathigur kee aisee vaddiaaee
Such is the Glory of the True Guru
puthr kalathr vichae gath paaee
In the midst of children and spouses, they attain emancipation.
aisee saevak saevaa karai
Such is the service which the Lord's servant performs.
jis kaa jeeo this aagai dhharai
That he dedicates his soul to the Lord, to whom it belongs.
saahib bhaavai so paravaan
One who is pleasing to the Lord and Master is acceptable.
so saevak dharageh paavai maan
Such a servant obtains honor in the Court of the Lord.
sathigur kee moorath hiradhai vasaaeae
He enshrines the image of the True Guru in his heart.
jo eishhai soee fal paaeae
He obtains the rewards which he desires.
saachaa saahib kirapaa karai
The True Lord and Master grants His Grace.
so saevak jam thae kaisaa ddarai
How can such a servant be afraid of death?
bhanath naanak karae veechaar
Prays Nanak, practice contemplation,
saachee baanee sio dhharae piaar
And enshrine love for the True Word of His Bani.
thaa ko paavai mokh dhuaar
Then, you shall find the Gate of Salvation.
jap thaap sabh eihu sabadh hai saar
This Shabad is the most best among all chanting and austere meditations.
