In year 2019, California was suffering one of its worst, most widespread fires. Two days before the Hindu new year, my husband and I attended a nearby
satsang. As I was meditating, I saw a vision of Guruji: He was wearing a printed brown check shirt and light-coloured pants and climbing the stairs in our home.
Before the new year, on the spur of an inclination, I asked my husband to sprinkle Guruji's holy water all over our house, to purify it. He sprinkled the water inside and outside of our home. The very next day, the fires had reached our area and were raging. There were big flames everywhere with thick black smoke. We had to evacuate our home.
Before leaving, I went in front of Guruji's
swaroop and prayed to Him to save our house, but added that He do whatever is good for us even if it meant losing the house — so that we learn detachment from material things. The fires were so fierce that we had lost hope that our home would survive.
The next morning, we drove back home fearing the worst, but our house was standing there despite having been engulfed by the fire. The flames had not crossed over wherever we had sprinkled holy water! Guruji's grace had protected our house.
Guruji gave me confirmation that I had indeed seen Him in my meditation, when I saw a photograph of Guruji a few days later in the same outfit. The most important lesson we learnt that night was to surrender. We should leave everything to Him and learn to live by whatever He blesses us with. All glory to my Guru who takes care of His devotees every moment. Jai Guruji!
