I met a devotee of Guruji at a dinner party and struck up a conversation. He invited me to his house for discussion on matters of faith. A natural sceptic, I still agreed, fully knowing my own faith in God was weak and wavering. I later realized he had invited me over to give me a taste of faith.
The devotee told me that before we had our discussion I should first attend a
satsang being held at his house. I agreed. My first satsang at Alkaji and Mohit's house will always remain green in my memory. The serene atmosphere, the friendly devotees, the Punjabi
shabads, and the sharing of experiences—all influenced me.
After attending a few satsangs, it was not too long before Guruji began to manifest in my own life, speaking to me through friends and providing me with moments of clarity in situations where I needed some. I began to see how I could begin to improve my life once I opened myself up to the possibilities He offered me.
Before I knew of Guruji, my view was that no college-educated person with a scientific frame of mind could accept that a person born on this planet had supernatural powers. I now believe our Guruji has such powers. He came upon this earth as an ambassador of God, of Lord Shivji—in fact, He was God himself. Hundreds of thousands of His devotees can vouch for His divinity, having seen such a one in physical form. In our satsangs, such devotees are called "old sangat".
In substance, there is no difference between old sangat and those like me who have joined Him after He left His
chola. We experience Guruji as if He was standing before us in physical form. He has given
darshans to me, and will continue to give them to all who follow Him wherever they be in the world. I often think back to that first satsang I attended. Guruji's
pratima, His divine reflection, has remained in my mind and heart.
