Satguru pyara mere nal hai

My mother and sister have been followers of Guruji while I was a devotee of the Mother. I gave birth to a girl in Nov 2015 in the US, where I live, and my mom gave me Guruji's swaroop as a blessing for her. I put it in my temple at home. My daughter was quite sickly.

A year later when I went to India, my sister suggested I go to Bade Mandir. I did so, but did not take jal prasad, since I feared I would get sick. That had happened after I had taken amrit in a gurudwara. I had a quick darshan and returned, without having langar.

Every time my daughter got sick, I talked to my sister and mother and their refrain was "Jai Guruji, vo theek hai."

In March 2019 my sister came to the US and asked me if I wanted to do a satsang. I agreed to host one at my place, inviting a few friends who were not connected with Guruji. My sister had explained to me about prasad and shabads, but I was so immature that I was talking to my friends while the shabads played. I did not even have chai prasad, since I don't drink tea.

For langar, we ordered chapattis from a restaurant and cooked vegetables at home, but the food delivered was Chole Bhature, Bhindi, and Baigan—all my favourites. These are Guruji's blessings, my sister said, but we passed it off in laughter. We all had Guruji's darshan when I saw Aum on His forehead in the swaroop. Soon after, my sister left for India, and the happenings of the satsang vanished from my mind.

I was reminded of them when I got a video of Guruji's birthday celebrations held in Fremont, which is near my home. I saw many posts in social media saluting Guruji on that day. I got ready, came to the office and began reading about Guruji on the internet. The whole day I read about Guruji and heard satsangs. I kept cancelling my meetings as I went on reading and listening to satsangs and shabads in the office. At home, I found myself naturally chanting Jai Guruji. I also found a devotee in Fremont and sent him an email, requesting information about satsangs. Within two days I got an invite for the July 13 Guru Purnima satsang.

I had read that Guruji liked discipline so I reached on time. At the satsang venue, I saw a form, all of light, walking to His throne (gaddi) and smelt His rosy fragrance many times during the satsang. And, when tea was offered, I drank it, knowing it was Guruji's medicine.

And so it is. A case in point is my infant daughter, who would get sick very frequently. I asked my husband one day if we could take our daughter to a satsang. He does not believe in Guruji, but he does not oppose my faith either. I told him we would have chai prasad, and then come back. My husband went with us and stayed there for langar prasad too. Guruji blessed my daughter, and her fever was gone the very next day.

Guruji listens to our prayers. At home, I often listen to the shabads "So satguru pyara mere naal ha." (The divine guru is with me.) However, I had never listened to this shabad at the satsangs I had attended. I wondered why this was so during a satsang. The very next shabad that played was the one I enjoyed so much at home. Jai Guruji!
